A Nigerian businesswoman has accused her sales representative of stealing clothing from her store, taking the tags off, and then reselling it.
According to reports, she led police to the woman’s home for a search, recovered ₦601,000 in cash, and discovered a number of bags and clothing items in her possession.
A video of the incident was shared on TikTok, where the businesswoman described the steps involved in the theft.
The video has captions for every scene in which the alleged sales representative opens her bag and displays several items that appear to have been stolen from the store.
The businesswoman, who had trusted the woman because of her religious devotion, described her feelings of shock and betrayal in her narration.
“Beware of overly religious people. She’s been working with me for over a year. I trusted her because she’s a Muslim and always praying,” she wrote.
She added that although she was once suspicious, she initially ignored it. “There’s a saying that there’s no how someone wouldn’t eat from your success. I left her,” she explained.
The woman claimed the sales rep not only sold the clothes but also wore some of them. “She removed all the tags from my clothes and sold them. The only thing I was able to recover was ₦601k.”
“I noticed I was constantly restocking but not seeing the money. I never knew she was secretly ripping me off.”
Following her suspicions, she involved the police. “We went to her house with the police and recovered a lot of clothes and bags, aside from the ones she had sold and removed the tags from.”
She concluded by warning others against trusting people solely based on their religious appearance.
