Dr Nuhu Muhammadu Sanusi, the Emir of Dutse, was laid to rest on Wednesday at the Kargo public cemetery in Dutse, Jigawa State’s capital.
The funeral prayer was led by Abubakar Sani Birnin Kudu, Chief Imam of Dutse Central Mosque, at the Dutse Eid prayer ground.
The emir died on Tuesday at the age of 78 in Abuja Hospital after a brief illness.
He leaves behind two wives, 13 children, and grandchildren.
The Dutse emirate was one of two first-class emirates established in Jigawa State following the state’s establishment in 1991.
He took over from his late father, Muhammadu Sanusi Dan Bello, who ruled from 1983 to 1995.
The funeral was attended by the Sultan of Sokoto, Abubakar Sa’ad, the People Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) vice presidential candidate Kashim Shettima.
The presidential delegations also attended the funeral prayer led by Garba Shehu, President Muhammadu Buhari’s media aide.
Others include PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President Namadi Sambo, former and serving Sokoto State Governors, and others.
Distinguished Islamic clerics and Emirs from within and outside the country.
