A dramatic scene unfolded in Akwa Ibom State when officials from a local task force attempted to flag down a truck for a routine inspection, only to watch the driver take evasive action in a bid to avoid being checked.
Rather than pulling over, the driver reportedly shifted the truck into reverse gear and began driving backward against the flow of traffic along a one-way road — a maneuver that put other road users at risk and drew the attention of bystanders. The truck continued in reverse for a significant distance, with the driver apparently scanning for an escape route.
Upon spotting a clear stretch of road, the driver seized the moment, shifted back into forward gear, accelerated sharply, and sped off, evading the task force operatives and leaving the scene before further action could be taken.
The incident highlights ongoing challenges faced by task force units in enforcing compliance during routine stops, with some drivers resorting to risky tactics to avoid inspection.
