A lady has shared a humorous late-night incident she witnessed involving a married couple, recounting how a man entertained neighbours by singing outside his locked gate after his wife refused to let him into their home.
According to the lady, the incident began at about 10 p.m. when the man returned home and repeatedly sounded his car horn, hoping someone would come out to open the gate.
She explained that she initially assumed no one was at home. However, after hearing voices from inside the compound, she realised the gate had remained shut because of a disagreement between the couple rather than the absence of anyone indoors.
Sharing the experience, the lady said:
“I just witnessed what I can only describe as Midnight Fight Romance.”
She continued:
“This man came back home since around 10 p.m. and has been blasting his horn for someone to open the gate. He would horn for a while, stop, then start again. At first, I thought maybe nobody was around to hear him. But the gate remained locked, and I started wondering what was really going on. Then I heard voices from inside and realized this wasn’t a gate problem.
“The funniest part was that instead of getting angry, the man was outside dancing and singing, ‘Asa butu o! Obi gi daju o!’ meaning, ‘Pretty lady, calm down.’ Meanwhile, madam was inside squeezing face and refusing to open the gate.”
The lady added that the repeated sounding of the horn attracted the attention of neighbours, turning what appeared to be a private disagreement into an unexpected late-night spectacle.
According to her, the woman eventually opened the gate while still wearing a serious expression, but the man kept singing and dancing, leaving many of the onlookers amused.
