A Nigerian businessman has sparked reactions online after sharing how he handled a case of alleged theft involving one of his employees.
In a post shared on X, the businessman, known as @MadProfitGuy, narrated that he caught a female staff member stealing and immediately began taking steps to address the situation.
According to him, he informed the employee that he intended to convene a general staff meeting where video evidence of the alleged theft would be played before everyone present.
The businessman further disclosed that he had been monitoring the employee for some time before eventually catching her in the act.
Following the discovery, the staff member reportedly began pleading with him through chat messages, offering to resign from her position. She appeared to believe that quitting her job would be sufficient punishment for her actions.
However, the businessman revealed that he had already contacted security operatives and arranged for her arrest after the meeting.
The incident has since generated mixed reactions online, with many users supporting the decision to take legal action, while others debated the best way employers should handle cases of workplace theft.
Reactions
EmyCool: “That’s good. I like when thieves are caught with concrete evidence. There is no ‘I didn’t do it’.”
Happy: “That’s bad. Why steal? You worked so hard to fix things.”
Gift: “Staff theft is really painful to be honest. It’s a painful betrayal for an entrepreneur. The person definitely wants the downfall of the business. They were not there in the days of little beginnings.”
Dipso: “Serves her right. If she’s not punished, she would repeat same elsewhere.”
The story has reignited conversations about trust in the workplace, employee accountability, and the importance of following due process when handling allegations of theft.
