A Nigerian man has sparked reactions online after sharing the heartbreaking story of his colleague, who allegedly sacrificed everything to sponsor his wife through law school, only to later receive divorce papers.
The story was shared by an X user identified as @AskEmmy0, who revealed that he recently watched the woman handle her first legal case in court before learning that her marriage had reportedly crashed.
According to him, the woman’s husband, identified as Ikenna, sold his Toyota Camry to fund her education and support her dream of becoming a lawyer.
Whenever people asked about the missing car, he would reportedly tell them the vehicle had developed faults, hiding the true reason behind the sacrifice.
The X user further claimed that throughout her time in law school, Ikenna paid her fees, covered her bar exam expenses, and placed her on monthly allowance despite facing financial struggles himself.
He allegedly commuted to work daily using keke and sometimes skipped lunch just to ensure his wife completed her studies successfully.
“The same Port Harcourt man who took Keke in the rain so she could sit in a lecture hall and become who she became was now sitting quietly while she used that same becoming against him,” the post read.
According to the narration, the man reportedly kept the divorce private and remained calm throughout the proceedings, refusing to discuss the situation with colleagues.
The viral story has since stirred mixed reactions online, with many debating sacrifice, marriage, loyalty, and whether personal success changes people after relationships evolve.
