A viral video circulating on X has sparked widespread outrage and serious public health concerns after a dispatch rider was allegedly caught eating from a customer’s small chops order while on delivery.
In the disturbing clip, the rider was seen stopping mid-transit, placing the snack boxes by the roadside, opening them one after another, and allegedly eating portions of the contents before proceeding with the delivery.
The incident has drawn sharp criticism online, with many condemning the act as highly unprofessional, unhygienic, and a reflection of deeper moral concerns.
Social media users described the behavior as a breach of trust, especially in a service industry where customers rely on riders to safely handle their orders.
One netizen recounted a similar personal experience involving dishonesty:
“I remember one time I gave my bike man a bag of rice to go and mill it for me in a rice milling factory. Little did he know that the factory kept records of the amount of ‘mudus’ they mill for customers for accountability.
When he brought it back, I measured it myself and discovered a shortage. The factory confirmed they had milled 39 mudus, but he brought me only 30. He later confessed that he took some to his wife, claiming hunger. I retrieved my rice and never trusted him with errands again.
Trust Nigerians, at your own peril.”
Another concerned user wrote:
“Many issues raised. Also:
His total lack of concern or shame about being seen doing this openly.
Fingers dipped into people’s food & packs placed carelessly on the ground. This is a huge public health risk.
Not poverty or hunger. It’s lack of conscience and moral failure.”
Additional reactions poured in:
“This is why some people prefer preparing food at home. Imagine paying for contaminated food.”
“Dispatch companies need stricter background checks and accountability measures.”
“This is beyond hunger. It’s pure dishonesty.”
“If he can do this publicly, imagine what happens when nobody is watching.”
The video has reignited conversations around food safety, trust in delivery services, and the importance of professionalism among dispatch workers. Many are now calling for stricter regulations and consequences for such behavior.
