A young lady has stirred heated reactions online after sharing her controversial interpretation of what it means to be a “virgin,” challenging the widely accepted modern definition.
The video, which surfaced on X (formerly Twitter) via @gidi_traffic, shows the woman confidently questioning societal beliefs around virginity, arguing that the term has been misunderstood and misrepresented over time.
According to her, the original meaning of “virgin” is linked to the Latin word virgo, which she claims referred to an unmarried woman rather than someone who has never had sexual intercourse. She suggested that the modern definition has been reshaped in a way that places unfair pressure on women and enforces moral judgment.
She further encouraged women to reject societal labels and define themselves freely, stating that people should not be limited by concepts designed to make them feel “tainted” or less valuable.
In her words, she said she is “technically a virgin” because she is not married, and went on to promote self-definition and empowerment beyond traditional norms.
Reactions trailing the video:
“Classic rebrand so the mirror stays friendly, I’ve seen worse cope but this one’s bold.”
“She is delusional, so are all those who take her teachings seriously.”
“At least she used the word ‘technically’ which means she knows the truth. Make una keep fooling una selves.”
“Women will always look for a way to dodge accountability and be blameless.”
“She should also add that it means fresh, pure, and unused. Yes, the word ‘virgin’ is gotten from the Latin word virgo. Nobody says it’s about sex, well it’s purely an agenda or chasing clout with it. We can also say ‘virgin land.’ Does that mean the land has not had sex? Nice try.”
