A Nigerian lady has sparked widespread reactions online after accusing community leaders of injustice and lack of transparency regarding a land deal involving her mother’s property.
In a viral video, she alleged that a company paid ₦725 million for a piece of land partly owned by her mother, but her family was completely sidelined during the negotiation process.
According to her, despite her mother owning a 75 percent stake in the land, they were not informed or involved at any stage. She claimed they were later told that her mother’s share amounted to just ₦11 million — an offer she described as grossly unfair.
The lady also drew attention to the difficult living conditions in the community, explaining that many residents survive through small-scale activities such as fishing, selling firewood, and other minor jobs.
She questioned what would happen to these residents if they were displaced without any form of compensation or resettlement plan.
Efforts to get clarification from community leaders, she said, were unsuccessful. She alleged that after rejecting the ₦11 million offer, she was dismissed and told to take the matter to court.
Expressing frustration, she questioned whether such treatment was appropriate from those meant to represent and protect the people.
The lady emphasized that her intention was not to challenge authority but to demand fairness, transparency, and a proper investigation into the matter.
In her words:
“I go speak the truth no matter wetin happen about everything wey dem do with my mama property. One company come pay ₦725 million for this land, but my mama get 75 percent and nobody carry am along. Now dem say her share na just ₦11 million.”
“For here, no big work. People dey survive with small-small hustles. If dem send them comot like this without plan, where dem go go?”
“We went to meet the council chairman, but instead of explanation, I was sent away after rejecting the ₦11 million. Dem tell us make we go court. Na so leader suppose treat him people?”
She concluded by urging the public to amplify her message in hopes of getting justice.
Reactions trailing the video:
“If only ‘go to court’ meant something! It’s almost hopeless for the common person.”
“Omoh, be like una no sabi hire strong people wey go handle that community matter.”
“Take it to court. The company can deal directly with your mother instead of the community.”
“No be community get the land. Make the company buy am separately.”
“As how? Make them give the woman her money jare!”
“Collect the ₦11M first before you start fighting, so you go get strength.”
“This is robbery disguised as community decision. ₦11M for 75% of ₦725M? Absolute injustice!”
The situation continues to generate debate online, with many calling for proper investigation and accountability.
