Father’s Honest Reaction to Daughter’s Sketch Sparks Laughter Online

A father has sparked laughter and warm reactions online after sharing a hilarious experience involving his young daughter’s attempt to sketch him.

The story was shared on X (formerly X) by Olajide Obe, who posted a photo of the portrait his 8-year-old daughter created after asking him to sit still while she drew him at home.

According to him, he jokingly agreed to model for her, warning playfully that the drawing had to come out well. However, when she proudly presented the finished artwork, he couldn’t hide his confusion.

Comparing the sketch to his real face, the father admitted he struggled to see any resemblance.

He initially expressed disappointment, telling her the drawing wasn’t exactly “aesthetically pleasing.” Unfortunately, his reaction brought the little girl to tears.

Realizing his mistake, he quickly switched strategies — praising her effort and complimenting the artwork to calm her down. He later admitted the praise was a tactical move to stop the tears.

In his words:

Last night, my 8y/o daughter asked me to sit still while I was watching TV and said to me that she wanted to sketch me. Comparing what she sketched to my real photograph, I still can’t see the similarity between the two. I commend her effort though, but I refuse to agree that that was me in her drawing. That thing doesn’t resemble me jur. 😁😁😁”

The lighthearted post has since generated reactions from parents who could relate to balancing honesty with encouragement when it comes to their children’s creativity.
