A Nigerian woman has set social media buzzing after openly admitting that money played a major role in her decision to leave her marriage.
In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @Mazi_Chinonso1, the woman revealed that although she got married ten years ago, she is now divorced and currently searching for a wealthy man to settle down with.
“If He Was Rich Like Dangote, I Wouldn’t Have Left”
In the video, she stated:
“If my ex-husband was rich like Aliko Dangote, I wouldn’t have left. Financial stability is very important to me when choosing a partner.
I hate poor men. I can only marry a rich man, and I don’t need to be rich myself to attract a rich man, because I am a woman.”
She further explained that her own financial status is not a determining factor, as she believes being a woman already gives her an advantage in attracting wealthy partners.
According to her, what she desires most is financial security — someone capable of providing stability for her and her future family.
Social Media Reactions
Her bold remarks quickly triggered mixed reactions online.
While some users supported her honesty and agreed that financial stability is a critical factor in marriage, others criticised her stance, arguing that love, commitment, and character should outweigh money.
One user wrote:
“Life happens, fortunes change. What will you do if the ‘rich man’ loses everything?”
Another commented:
“At least she’s honest. Many people think the same way but won’t say it.”
