A Nigerian lady has stirred intense conversations online after boldly stating that she would rather get divorced than share her husband with another wife.
In a strongly worded post shared on X, the woman described herself as “so selfish on that aspect,” making it clear that she could not endure polygamy even for a second.
Personal Experience Shaped Her View
Explaining why she feels so strongly, the lady recounted a painful story involving a close friend’s family.
According to her, her friend lost his brother during a difficult period when their father had travelled on vacation with his second wife. She claimed that the first family was left without financial support at the time, while their mother was ill.
She wrote that events unfolded quickly and tragically, leaving lasting emotional scars. That experience, she explained, shaped her firm opposition to becoming either a first or second wife.
“It’s Either Me or We Part Ways”
The woman did not mince words about her stance.
“I will never accept to be a first or second wife. It’s either you and me forever or we part ways.”
She stressed that she has seen multiple stories about how second marriages can cause emotional distress and instability within families.
“My husband will never marry a second wife,” she declared confidently.
She further warned that if her partner ever desired another woman, he should simply bring divorce papers.
“If you feel like eating from another woman’s pot, kindly serve me the divorce papers.”
Family Background and Conviction
The lady also pointed to her upbringing as a major influence on her decision. She revealed that no one in her family has ever taken a second wife, and no woman in her family has been a second wife.
“I can’t and will never live under the same roof with another woman,” she insisted, ending her message with a firm declaration:
“It’s me and you forever!”
Her post has since sparked widespread debate online, with many users divided over issues of marriage, culture, polygamy, and personal boundaries.
