Cryptocurrency vendor defrauds man on an exchange platform of ₦9.6 million

A Nigerian man screams after a cryptocurrency exchange vendor defrauds him of ₦9.6 million, revealing the identity of the con artist.

On the well-known social media site X (formerly Twitter), user @Heis_morgann shared the incident in a post.

A platform vendor, @Bybit_Official, allegedly defrauded him of $6,000, or ₦9.6 million, according to his claims.

In his statement, he warned others: “I just got scammed of $6,000 (₦9.6 million) by a @Bybit_Official vendor. I’m warning everyone to stay away from Bybit P2P vendors for now.”

“Until @Bybit_Official @BybitAfrica @Bybit_Web3 resolves this, how can my ₦9.6 million just vanish like that? This is unacceptable.”

He posted screenshots of the transaction and the chat with the scammer, who refused to release the money.

He added: “@Bybit_Official please look at this screenshot. The conversation with the vendor clearly shows bad intentions from the start. It’s obvious this was a setup to scam me. This is disturbing and an evil act.”

The vendor’s username is “Mickey-(Zion).” The victim pleaded with Bybit: “@Bybit_Official, this guy is damaging your platform’s reputation. He scammed me, and I’m begging you to intervene. I worked too hard for that money; he needs to refund me. Please act now.”

Hours after calling out the vendor, the individual shared an update on his page confirming that the issue had been resolved and his money returned.

He wrote:

Guyssss! The man has returned the funds. Thank you all for your support — it’s truly appreciated.”
