A young Nigerian man known online as @BasketballProfe, a well-known basketball bettor who had amassed a following for his predictions, passed away unexpectedly, causing a wave of grief to sweep through social media.
The deceased had previously announced his temporary withdrawal from online activity, implying that he was dealing with health issues.
His post was brief and said, “I am sick. will not be here for a while.”
Shortly after, he shared an image from a hospital bed, showing his hand with medical tubing held by cellotape instead of plaster, a detail that initially stirred debate online.
He captioned the photo, “First time ever. It is well.”
Unfortunately, a close friend confirmed his death a few hours later. Although the cause of his illness and death was not made public, fans, friends, and followers have since showered him with tributes, many of which express shock and sadness.
One user, @iamwater01, penned an emotional tribute: “Rest in peace. May your soul find the gentlest rest as you soar with the angels.
