Man applauds police officer who gave ₦20k and helped fix car on Lagos-Ibadan expressway

A Nigerian man has praised a police officer on social media for going above and beyond to help him when his car broke down on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

In a post on the social media site X, which was formerly known as Twitter, the user @Akinskickers described how his car broke down early in the morning while he was driving his mother to the airport.

A policeman named Mr. Yusuf saved him after he became stranded and in need of assistance.

Upon realizing he had no money to pay the mechanic, he claims that Mr. Yusuf not only called a mechanic for him but also gave him ₦20,000 in cash without question.

The man added that the officer remained by their side during the entire ordeal, tracked the mechanic’s location using his call credit, and even convinced a friend to help drive his mother and sister to Lagos for free so they would not miss their flight.

Additionally, when the man offered to increase the amount he was lent, the kind officer refused to take any more money and instead gave some to local boys.

When the mechanic suggested renting a car battery, Mr. Yusuf even offered to use his own to help start the man’s vehicle, he disclosed.

“God bless you wherever you are, Mr Yusuf. You’re not just an officer, but a gallant Mopol with a heart of gold,” the grateful man wrote.

He concluded by calling for more officers like Mr Yusuf on Nigerian roads, describing him as “an angel sent to help.”
