A Nigerian woman has sparked heated debate online after criticizing men who spend heavily on hotels but give women what she considers “too little” afterward.
In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), she questioned the logic behind men paying as much as ₦150,000 to ₦200,000 for hotel stays, only to give the woman they spent the night with ₦20,000 to ₦50,000.
In her words:
“As a man, why will you pay ₦150k for a hotel, ₦100k or even ₦200k? … that same woman that made you happy, you will now give her ₦30k, ₦50k… Una no dey shame?”
She argued that such behavior reflects a lack of appreciation for women who contribute to a man’s enjoyment, adding that matching—or at least increasing—the amount given would show better respect.
Mixed Reactions from Social Media Users
The video quickly went viral, drawing divided opinions across social media:
Supportive reactions:
Some women agreed with her stance, saying it highlights how men prioritize luxury over valuing their partners.
“If a man can spend ₦200k on a hotel, giving me ₦20k is pure disrespect 😩.”
“She’s not lying though. Priorities dey somehow.”
Critical reactions:
Others, especially men, pushed back against her argument.
“So relationship is now business transaction?”
“Nobody forced anyone. If you’re not okay with it, leave.”
“Hotel is for both of you to enjoy, not just the man.”
“But that’s quite insensitive. Why not take her home and give her the ₦150k or ₦200k after the do?”
“It’s all about value. He values the hotel far more than the olosho. Add more value to yourself then they will pay you more than the value of the hotel.”
“It goes a long way to tell you that a hotel has more value than her… Instead of her to go and work and actually earn a decent living for herself she’s online dragging value with a hotel’s price.”
Neutral / mixed takes:
Some users said the issue depends on the nature of the relationship.
“If it’s a hookup, everything should be agreed beforehand.”
“This conversation is deeper than money. It’s about expectations.”
