“You did not get re-elected; you chose yourself.” — Rapper Falz slams Sanwo-Olu for posting an appreciation message to Lagosians

Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, a Nigerian rapper, has chastised the re-elected Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his post thanking Lagosians following his election victory.

Sanwo-Olu was declared the winner of the Lagos state Governorship election on Saturday, March 18, after polling a total of 762134 votes to defeat Labour Party’s Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and Jandor of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

Following the announcement, he took to Twitter to thank the people of Lagos state for re-electing him and to reiterate his commitment to serve them.

He shared photos of himself and his party members celebrating following his re-election.

“Thank you Lagosians!

I am deeply humbled and grateful for the overwhelming support and trust of the good people of Lagos State. I am honored to be re-elected as your Governor and pledge to continue to work tirelessly to deliver a better Lagos for all.

Thank you for believing in me.

I have personally penned my thoughts in a letter to you. I hope you read it and truly feel my passion for Lagos and for you

These elections have deeply tested us as a people. This victory is not just mine, but it belongs to every Lagosian.”

Many people were offended by the tweet, including rapper Falz, because of the events that occurred during the election last Saturday.

Remember that there were reports of intimidation, tribal discrimination, and thuggery in various parts of the state that were allegedly carried out by the ruling party?

In light of this, Falz responded to Sanwo-Olu’s tweet with,

“You were not re-elected. You selected yourself. Everybody saw it unfold. You are only deceiving yourselves.”
