Woman scammed of ₦64,750 by vendor after trying to start bottled water business

After being duped online while attempting to launch a bottled water company, a Nigerian woman has expressed her frustration.

In an X (previously Twitter) post, she disclosed that she had paid a vendor ₦64,750 for a drum and 45 packs of bottled water, which she planned to sell at an event.

Unfortunately, the vendor blocked her after she paid and vanished without sending the goods.

“This is so hard for me to share, but I feel like I need to,” she wrote. “I was just trying to do something simple—buy 45 packs of bottled water to sell at Yaga. I needed help because of my work schedule, so I turned to Twitter and connected with someone who seemed trustworthy.”

“They offered to help, and I trusted them. I sent ₦64,750 for the water and a drum. But once I paid, everything changed. They blocked me. No apology, no explanation. I felt stupid and betrayed.”

The lady added that the same person is still active on social media, attempting to scam others. She urged people to be cautious and report the individual.

Please, please be careful who you trust, especially online,” she pleaded. “If something feels off, it probably is. I don’t want anyone else to go through this pain.”

Following her post, several users flooded the comment section with messages of support and shared similar experiences.
