Well-known Nigerian singer Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, better known by her stage name Ayra Starr, has shared her thoughts on how she deals with negativity and criticism.
The singer of the hit song “Bloody Samaritan,” who spoke with Dose Society, explained why she does not let criticism get to her.
Ayra Starr, known for her unapologetic confidence and bold public persona, addressed the issue of criticism by suggesting that many of her critics are grappling with personal struggles such as poverty and depression.
She claims that these difficulties frequently overshadow their ability to provide helpful criticism.
The singer explaining her viewpoint, she said:
“What matters less? I think opinions and people’s perceptions of you doesn’t [matter].
“Trust me, people are living their lives. Everybody is busy. People are hungry. Stop caring and stop thinking what people are thinking about you. People are hungry, tired. Life is hard. Just do you.
“Sometimes, you’re there overthinking, ‘what does this person think about me?’ Then, they’re just like, ‘what’s gonna happen today? Am I gonna make it home?’
“There are a lot of things going on in the world, so wasting time worrying about what other people think of you is pointless.” Do you, find yourself. Be confident in yourself. Don’t care about the outcome. Just do. Don’t be afraid to fail. Fail as many times as you want to but when you get it right, you’re going to be so proud of yourself.”
