“Why Do Men Prefer Mature Things but Choose Younger Women?” — Lady Sparks Debate Online

A Nigerian lady has stirred widespread conversation on social media after questioning what she described as a contradiction in how some men make decisions about relationships compared to other areas of life.

In a viral video making the rounds online, she pointed out that when it comes to everyday purchases, people often prefer items that are mature, strong, or fully developed. However, she argued that this standard seems to change when it comes to choosing a life partner.

According to her, this contrast raises important questions about societal expectations, especially around age and maturity in relationships.

In her words:

Men, why e be say when una wan buy fowl, una go find fowl wey don mature. If una wan buy goat, una go find goat wey don matured well well. If na coconut, una go find the one wey strong well well. But when e reach to marry, una go dey find prematured girl. Why una no dey go find matured girls like other things wey mature una dey like?”

Her statement quickly triggered mixed reactions online, with many people sharing differing opinions on age gaps, maturity, and relationship preferences.

💬 Reactions:

It’s only in his 20s he can marry his mate. In other ways it will take him time to build a life; which will now make him want a younger woman later. You get it?”

“If I’m 40, I will look for a girl of 25. When I was 30, I dated a 20-year-old. Their reasoning dey make me laugh. But be ready to learn and correct, because they go laugh too.”

“A man can’t keep a condemned car as his favorite car that has been driven by dozens of drivers. Even if the body is upgraded, the engine can never be like new.”

“Mature ladies have practiced lots of evil when they were younger, that’s why they’re still single. Only God will save Nigerian men.”

“Maturity doesn’t go hand in hand with age. Even fools grow old.”

“When you were younger, didn’t you date older men? Now you’re complaining?”

The discussion continues to trend, with many debating whether age truly determines maturity, or if personal values and experiences matter more when choosing a life partner.
