A Nigerian lady has stirred heated reactions online after questioning the audacity of someone who attended and actively participated in a family meeting simply because their mother is a third wife.
Taking to social media, the woman expressed shock that the individual not only showed up to the meeting but also contributed to the discussions without hesitation.
“Your mother is a third wife, they invited you to a family meeting and you decided to go. Where did you buy your audacity from?” she asked.
According to her, such confidence was both surprising and difficult for her to comprehend.
She argued that, traditionally, family meetings are spaces where the children of first and second wives take precedence, while those from later marriages are not typically expected to speak or assert themselves. In her view, the person’s participation crossed established boundaries and reflected a level of boldness she found unacceptable within family dynamics.
The lady further stated that watching someone openly express their opinions in a setting where they are considered a “junior” or less prominent family member made her question the meaning of respect, hierarchy, and boundaries in modern families.
Her comments quickly ignited debate across social media platforms, with users divided over issues of family hierarchy, cultural norms, and changing generational attitudes. While some agreed with her stance, others argued that every child, regardless of their mother’s position in the family, has an equal right to be heard.
