A staff of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has been caught on video allegedly collecting ₦16,000 in cash from new students for admission clearance.
An anonymous student posted a covertly recorded video of the act on X (formerly Twitter), bringing attention to the incident.
In the video, a staff member can be seen taking money from a student and verifying the amount by counting it.
The student claims that the staff rejects bank transfers and only accepts cash payments.
He added that the department is requesting the same payment for clearance from hundreds of students.
In the video, the student pleaded for help, saying:
“Nigerians, come to our help. This is the Faculty of Agriculture doing clearance.”
“This man is collecting ₦16k from each student — this is not fair. Thousands of students are coming to do clearance. He tells you he doesn’t take transfer.”

@thealexisjnr: This is terrible. But you guys have an SUG president or if not SUG president. Each department has an executive presentative in each faculty. Take it up to them. That’s the best option.
@nedubrave: For you to have schooled there for four years, you should’ve known that every sector in every school is corrupt down to the highest authority that you will report to. Corruption has eaten deep into every sector in this country….. Down to the least staff.
@1braveoracle: This money he’s collecting, some top officials are benefiting, so they’ll not do anything about it.
@christhiney18: Must you come online to resolve everything? With that thick voice, you no fit challenge am with the backup of the rest claiming to be victims ? If it’s something the school is not aware of, I’m sure he’ll call himself to order. Or better still, they’ll send him away.
@BabatundeOpaul: Someone took his time to do a recording of 1:17 to call out an anomaly, what will he cost him to mention the name of the man, rather than saying, ‘this man’. Which man? Mention his name.
@OBO_master: Person wey una go trace outside school beat am black and blue. Students nowadays are too soft
