The South-South, South-East, and North-Central regions, along with minority groups in the North-West and North-East, and all segments of the North-West, North-East, and South-West that value good governance—regardless of ethnic background—should unite and vote together to ensure effective leadership in Nigeria.
The South-East should let go of the idea of Biafra, while other groups, whose interests also lie in good governance, should overcome their prejudices against the Igbos.
The real challenge facing the country comes from ethno-religious extremists who manipulate ethnicity and religion as tools for political domination.
The dual issues of prejudice against Igbos and the South-East’s Biafra aspirations are exploited by these extremists to maintain their hold over Nigeria. They are the main drivers of anti-Igbo sentiment. These extremists fear a united Nigeria because it would limit their ability to exploit the country’s opportunities and resources unchecked.
