UNIPORT sets exam question on Burna Boy, Sophia Egbueje’s ‘Lambo’ saga

After incorporating the viral “Lamba for Lambo saga” involving Afrobeats artist Burna Boy and socialite Sophia Egbueje into a law exam question, the Faculty of Law at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), Rivers State, has sparked a contentious online discussion.

The “Lamba for Lambo” controversy, as you may remember, started when Sophia Egbueje said Burna Boy had promised to buy her a Lamborghini after their alleged sexual encounter.

However, a viral video shared by @lifeof_mezuu revealed a two-page exam paper featuring the real-life controversy as a three-mark question.

The question reads:

“In what is now known as the ‘Lamba for Lambo saga,’ Sophia had a one-night stand with Burna Boy, with the agreement that the latter would buy her a Lamborghini Jeep. Burna Boy reneged on the agreement, and Sophie is contemplating bringing an action in court to enforce the agreement. Advise her (3 marks).”

The unexpected inclusion of the pop culture reference has since sparked widespread reactions, with many social media users debating whether such a case could hold legal weight.

See Some Comment Below:

@Hadas_sah: it’s an illegal contract. The contract is void because it expresses sexual immorality which is illegal. Therefore Sophia can’t win the case.

@Sophy Pearl 🤩❤️: You never say anything,.

“You are the older sister to Priscilla Ojo who just got married.Write a letter to her congratulating her and advising her to set boundaries in her friendship with Eni.

@starr.⭐️: it’s a domestic/family/social arrangement, and according to the law, burna boy does not intend to be legally bounded by it, hence sophia is on the shallow side of the law. see spellman v spellman.

@Ejena_Vee: This is exactly what my lecturer can do 😂 anytime something happens in the country we start getting scared especially undecided cases cause na we go give judgment 😂

@LËG🅰️L⚖️ ♏️⭕️DËL🎥📸: This is an unenforceable contract as it’s illegal and asides that, such contracts has no provision under the Nigerian law.“Ex turpi causa non oritur actio”

@𝓱𝓪𝓷𝓮𝓮𝓯𝓪𝓱✰: There was no serious consideration in the agreement so it can be deemed void because sofie had insufficient consideration. It is unlikely that she can win .

@favour: She can’t enforce the contract because the element of a valid contract is not complete which is consideration, there was no consideration furnished so it’s not a valid contract 👌
