A Nigerian woman living in the UK has described a terrifying incident in which strangers showed up at her door at around nine of the clock at night and claimed to have located their daughter’s lost phone.
She described the event in a TikTok video, cautioning others about possible frauds or illegal ploys.
She claimed that when she heard a knock on the door, she was at home with her child. She ignored it at first, but when it continued, she went downstairs to see what was going on.
A woman, a man, and a teenage girl were standing outside, and the girl said that her phone had been tracked to her home after she misplaced it on a bus.
Aware of the claim, the woman looked through her own and her child’s bags, but nothing was there.
They insisted that the phone was in her home even though she told them there was not one.
She promptly called the police to report the incident and refused to let them in.
In her words: “Something happened to me here in the UK, on Wednesday, around 9 p.m. Someone knocked on my door. I didn’t answer at first because I wasn’t expecting anybody. The person knocked again and I had to go downstairs to see who it was.”
She continued: “When I got downstairs, I saw a man, a woman, and a teenage girl. They said the girl lost her phone on a bus and that they tracked it to my house.”
Days after, she revealed that neither the strangers nor the police had returned or followed up.
She began to question the authenticity of the event, wondering if it was a ploy to rob or harm her.
She added: “No police has come to my house, no police has called me. I don’t know if it’s a scam. If I opened the door that day, would they have done something to me?”
The incident has gone viral, with many online users reacting in the comment section and praising her for staying vigilant.
