Two people arrested for kidnapping and raping a pregnant housewife in Adamawa

In Adamawa State, a pregnant housewife was kidnapped and raped by her uncle and a neighbor in Maiha Local Government Area.

Suleiman Adamu, 29, and Ahmadu Umaru, 26, both residents of the Machimin community in Maiha LGA, were apprehended by Adamawa State Police Command operatives.

Suleiman was identified as the victim’s uncle, and Ahmadu, a friend of his, was her next-door neighbor.

Both men have children and are married.

Suleiman allegedly told Ahmadu that he loved the victim and wanted to have sex with her.

After learning that her husband had left, the suspects allegedly devised a plan to break into her home at night.

They stormed her house at 11 p.m., armed with cutlasses and wearing face masks, and whisked the target away to a valley, where they raped and abandoned her.

Trouble began for the men, however, when the woman, upon returning home, recognized one of her assailants as her neighbor, despite his mask covering his face.

She reported the assault to police, who tracked down and arrested the suspects with the help of local hunters.

During interrogation at the Yola police headquarters, both suspects confessed to the crime.

SP Suleiman Nguroje of the Adamawa State Police confirmed on Wednesday that Commissioner of Police Afolabi Babatola had ordered the case transferred to the Police CID for further investigation and prosecution.
