A Nigerian man has ignited intense debate on social media after sharing a troubling personal account involving trust, secrecy, and a controversial food tray delivery allegedly connected to his wife and mother-in-law.
The story, shared on X (formerly Twitter), has drawn widespread reactions, with users weighing in on marriage, honesty, boundaries, and emotional transparency between spouses.
According to the man, his concerns began when he discovered that his wife had been chatting online with another man who expressed interest in sending her a food tray. He said his wife initially denied the conversation until he presented proof.
“I confronted my wife, she denied it till I showed her the message I sent from her phone to mine,” he wrote.
Afterward, his wife reportedly dismissed the interaction, claiming the man was insignificant and that she had informed him she was married.
“She started saying it’s one foolish man on Facebook. That she told him she’s married,” he added.
The husband said he chose to forgive her after she apologised and promised to stop engaging in such conversations, believing the matter was resolved.
However, days later, another incident reignited his suspicions. He explained that he bought snails as a surprise gift for his mother-in-law and decided to visit her. Upon arrival, he overheard a comment that unsettled him.
“I heard her mom say, ‘Don’t let this man out of your side,’” he recalled.
When he entered the house, he said he was met with an unexpected sight.
“Walking in, they were surprised and I met them with a large food tray, a cake and some wine.”
According to him, his mother-in-law explained that it was her birthday and that a friend had sent the items. However, the man said he immediately doubted the explanation.
“I knew it was a lie,” he stated.
When he later questioned his wife about the food tray, she allegedly claimed it was sent by one of her mother’s friends but was unable to mention the person’s name, further deepening his suspicion.
The man admitted that the situation has been emotionally draining, saying he now feels anger whenever he sees his wife.
“Each time I see my wife there’s a certain anger burning inside me,” he wrote.
Emphasising his loyalty, he added that he had never cheated on his wife throughout their ten-year marriage and questioned why she would act this way despite his efforts to provide for her.
Conflicted and unsure of his next step, the man turned to social media for advice, asking how to handle the situation without escalating it and whether involving his mother-in-law would help or worsen the issue.
The post has since continued to generate strong reactions online, with users offering mixed advice ranging from calm communication and counseling to stricter boundaries and deeper investigation into the matter.
