Troops repels Boko Haram attack on Monguno town

Sector 3 Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) troops repelled an attack by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Monguno, Borno State’s northernmost region.

According to Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency expert and security analyst in the Lake Chad region, the terrorists entered the town with heavy weapons around 12: 30 a.m. on Sunday via the Abbari community and the Charly 6 formation.

According to sources, the vigilant troops of the MNJTF quickly engaged them in a fierce gun battle that lasted about 30 minutes, successfully repelling the invading assailants. 

At the time of filing this report, it was unclear how many people were injured or killed on both sides.
