Troops ambush bandits, neutralize ten, and destroy camps in Kaduna, Chikun, Birnin Gwari, and Giwa LGAs

The Nigerian Army ambushed bandits, neutralized ten of them, and destroyed their camps in Chikun, Birnin Gwari, and Giwa local government areas.

Mr Samuel Aruwan, Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, confirmed this in a statement on Friday, saying that during ambush patrols in the Chikun-Birnin Gwari general areas, troops of Operation Forest Sanity neutralized eight bandits and seized six motorcycles.

According to the information provided to the Kaduna State Government, troops set up ambush positions at bandits’ crossing points in the Buruku/Birnin Gwari areas, and the troops made contact with bandits and neutralized eight while recovering four motorcycles and three mobile phones in the first successful mission.

The troops then engaged bandits in a second mission and recovered two motorcycles, according to him.

“In a similar operation, troops neutralized two bandits during clearance patrols along the Sabon Birni-Maidaro-Dogon Dawa-Galadimawa-Kidandan-Fatika axes,” he said.

He claimed that while clearing out camps near Garke and Galadimawa in the Giwa LGA, the troops also found an AK-47 rifle, two magazines holding 52 rounds, six motorcycles, and three mobile phones. They also discovered three Dane rifles, two magazines, some military uniforms, and nine motorcycles.

“Governor Nasir el-Rufai noted the reports with gratitude, and commended the troops’ stealth, bravery and resilience in the successful operations,” he further said.
