Over fuel scarcity, the Coalition of Transporters has threatened to picket the headquarters of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
Jamilu Mai Alheri, Chairman of Trailer Drivers Association (TADAN), and five others signed their communique on Monday.
The Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOWAN), the National Association of Traders of Nigeria (NASTAN), and the Commercial Motorcycles Association of Nigeria are among them (COMAN).
Market Women Association of Nigeria (MAWAN), Trailer Drivers Association of Nigeria (TADAN), and Luxurious Bus Operators Union are among the others (LUBOU).
Unions have warned their members across the country that if nothing is done to alleviate the scarcity, they will join the protest.
The associations stated that they would remain in the NNPC Towers in Abuja until the situation was resolved.
They also threatened not to make their vehicles available to transport materials for the elections from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The unions complained that the lingering fuel shortage had made their lives unbearable.
According to the communique, members rely heavily on daily income from their services, which have been negatively impacted.
“It is also inconceivable that fuel is sold at government recognised filling stations for between N350 to N400 per liter.
“This has forced the majority of our members to abandon their buses, motorcycles among others,” it added.
