Tragic Loss: Nigerian Mother of Three Passes Away Abroad Days into New Year

Condolences have poured in following the heartbreaking death of Damilola Balogun, a Nigerian mother of three, who passed away on New Year’s Day after being on life support.

The tragic incident was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @Dhkurullah. According to the post, the ordeal began when Damilola started experiencing severe migraines. Subsequent medical tests revealed that she had water on the brain, prompting her referral to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

Three days after undergoing brain surgery, Damilola fell into a coma and was placed on life support. Despite intensive resuscitation efforts by medical practitioners, she could not be revived, and life support was turned off on January 1, 2026.

Damilola leaves behind three young children aged 11, 10, and 5 months. To support her family during this difficult time, a GoFundMe account has been set up to cover funeral and burial expenses and provide financial aid for her children. In a show of solidarity, £15,000 has already been raised, as reported by the X user.

The loss has deeply affected her family, friends, and members of the Nigerian community abroad, highlighting both the fragility of life and the power of collective support in times of tragedy.
