Well-known Nollywood actress and director Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi is enjoying the success of her most recent film, Alakada: Bad and Boujee, which has made an astounding ₦134 million at the box office in just seven days.
Toyin shared the wonderful news on Instagram today, December 27, and thanked God, her followers, and those who have supported her work.
The actress’s emotional reaction followed the local distributor’s earlier announcement of the film’s impressive box office results.
“God of my journey, thank you. I am grateful that you helped me beat my last record! I am my own competition! Last year, I made ₦52M after seven days; this year, I made ₦134M after seven days. That is over a 157.69% increase. God, I am that woman who returns to say thank you,” she wrote
In addition, Toyin paused to thank her followers for their steadfast support:
“To my fans and everyone who has watched Alakada: Bad and Boujee, thank you. Despite everything, you stood your ground and made me a happy woman. Ẹṣé gan ó. Mo dúpe”
Famed for her tenacity and commitment, the actress brought attention to the difficulties she encountered in the cutthroat film business. She thanked theaters that screened her film and took aim at those who, in her opinion, attempted to sabotage its success.
“To the cinemas, especially the ones that have made it clear that their goal is for the industry to grow and support every movie irrespective of who is distributing it, thank you. And to those cinemas that made it clear they don’t want us to succeed, God has proven Himself to be greater than man—thank you, Lord,” she added.
