To co-host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeria and its neighboring Benin Republic have jointly submitted their applications.
Due to a lack of resources and facilities, Guinea, a small country in West Africa, withdrew from hosting the biennial competition.
The two nations have now formally submitted their proposals to the Confederation of African Football, according to GHANAsoccernet.com (CAF).
Zambia, Senegal, and South Africa have also submitted bids to host the continent’s premier soccer event.
Between January 5 and January 25, a CAF inspection team will travel to every nation to inspect their facilities.
The nation or nations that will host the event on February 10, 2023 will be decided by the continental soccer governing body.
Recall that Ghana and Nigeria jointly hosted the AFCON finals in 2000.
