Tiwa Savage, the Afrobeats Superstar, has taken a new step as the lead actress and co-director of a new film.
The ‘Somebody’s Son’ singer announced on Wednesday that she would make her film debut in ‘Water and Garri,’ her first.
The film Water and Garri is based on Tiwa’s 2021 EP of the same name.
In the film, Tiwa plays a fashion designer with a promising career in the United States who returns to her home country of Ghana to confront the guilt she left behind.
Mike Afolarin, Andrew Bunting, and Jemima Osunde join the 49-year-old singer.
She wrote on Instagram, “This is about to be an ICONIC moment,” alongside a photo of herself on set with directors. My first calling and debut as a co-director with the GOAT @meji Alabi.”
