Nigeria’s president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been named one of Time’s 100 most influential people in 2023.
Tinubu, Joe Biden, and 18 other names appear on the annual list of influential individuals, which typically includes the names of artists, icons, pioneers, leaders, titans, and innovators.
In a short profile published on Thursday, April 13, 2023, the American news magazine described the president-elect as a longtime political power broker who helped Nigeria restore democracy in 1999 after fighting military rule.
Time Magazine went on to praise Tinubu’s bravery in winning an election with three strong contenders for the first time in Nigeria’s 23-year democracy.
