President Bola Tinubu is intentionally desensitizing Nigerians to honesty and integrity by elevating known and established criminals and scoundrels to positions of honor and trust. In doing so, he is institutionalizing corruption as the normal code of conduct in Nigeria. It is like desensitizing the nose to the odour of filth—making the sight of it appear normal in the environment.
Tinubu seeks to normalize his own character, ensuring that Nigerians perceive it not as an aberration but as representative of what is acceptable. He wants the international community to view it as typical Nigerian behavior—something they should neither challenge nor concern themselves with.
To achieve this, Tinubu surrounds himself with individuals whose character mirrors his own, avoiding anyone whose integrity might draw an uncomfortable contrast. This strategy reminds one of the biblical phrase: “the abomination that worketh desolation standing in the holy place.” According to the Lord Jesus Christ, this is a prelude to unspeakable tribulation and suffering. The warning is clear: when evil is planted on the throne and given the appearance of divine authority, believers must take decisive action to preserve their moral and spiritual integrity.
We are now faced with two options: flee to the mountains of higher values or die in the plains of compromise. As someone who professes the fear of God, the choice is yours.
