Talking Stage or Stingy Stage? Lady Slams Men Who Don’t Offer Food Money

A Nigerian woman has sparked widespread conversation on social media after sharing her opinion on why many men no longer ask basic care-checking questions during the talking stage of relationships.

In a viral video posted by @Teniola on X (formerly Twitter), she claimed that some men intentionally avoid questions such as “Have you eaten?” or “What did you eat?” because they fear it may come with an expectation to send money for food.

According to her, genuine interest goes beyond words. She argued that when a man truly cares and has serious intentions, he will not only ask about her wellbeing but also offer financial support—sometimes even sending money without being prompted.

She stated:

“If we’ve been talking for two or three weeks and you can’t even show concern by offering food money, then the talking stage is already over.”

She added that such behaviour is a major turn-off for her and often leads to her ignoring or blocking the man entirely.

Her comments have since divided social media users. While some agreed with her stance, insisting that a man who is genuinely interested will naturally show care through actions, others disagreed.

One user commented, “Care is not always money,” while another countered, “If he really wants you, he’ll show it.”

The discussion has once again reignited debates around modern dating expectations, emotional care, and financial responsibility, with many questioning where affection ends and obligation begins.
