Son arrested over mother’s death in Delta

A School Proprietress, Mrs Fatima Umukoro, has allegedly been murdered by her son, Emmanuel Umukoro, in Delta state.

It was gathered that Mrs Umukoro, the proprietress of His Majesty Group of Schools in Sapele, Delta State, was allegedly killed by her son.

The neighbors are reportedly shocked and confused about the tragic incident that happened in the late hours of the night.

A few neighbors, who wished to remain anonymous, called the scene horrifying and gory.

According to eyewitnesses, the gate of the Umukoro residence was left open around 10 pm, which was unusual. This prompted neighbours and passersby to check on the situation.

“Only to discover fire coming from inside the house with the door left open. When they got inside the house, they discovered Mrs. Umukoro’s lifeless, irreversibly burned body.

“We saw her son, Emmanuel Umukoro driving out of the compound around 8:30 pm at a high speed in his mother’s car”

The neighbours said that the suspicious movement of the son, led to his apprehension by the police along Sapele-Warri Road as he (Son) attempted to escape to an unknown destination.

The incident was confirmed on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer at Delta State, SP Bright Edafe, upon being contacted.

“The son is in police custody now, but until the investigation is finished, we cannot say whether he killed her,” the speaker stated.
