Six Years, a Betrayal, and ₦950k: Nigerian Woman’s Heartbreaking Story Sparks Online Debate

A Nigerian woman has shared her painful ordeal after her boyfriend of six years allegedly ran off with another woman—someone she had trusted enough to bring into her home.

In a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @mazi_chinonso, the woman recounted that she had brought her 40-year-old boyfriend from the village to stay with her. Trouble began when a friend visiting from Lagos—claiming to be in Asaba for a job interview—allegedly started an affair with him.

She revealed that one day, she returned home unexpectedly and caught them together. While she immediately sent the woman packing, her boyfriend also packed his belongings and left with the other woman.

“I was expecting him to call me, but he didn’t. I called him and he didn’t pick. I later found out that they are now staying together in a new place they rented,” she shared, visibly heartbroken.

Despite the betrayal, she admitted that she still loves him, emphasizing the six years they had spent together. Her bigger concern, however, is the ₦950,000 she had kept with him for safekeeping.

Even if he doesn’t love me anymore, he should please give me my ₦950k I kept with him,” she pleaded.

The story has sparked a storm of reactions online:

@LoveSafeNigeria: “This is why financial independence is key. Never put all your trust in someone else with your money, no matter the relationship.”

@NaijaRealTalk: “Six years wasted. Heartbreak aside, she needs to get that ₦950k back legally if she can.”

@RelationshipAdvisorNG: “Some lessons are painful, but let this remind women to protect themselves—emotionally and financially.”

The incident has ignited discussions about trust, love, and financial security in relationships. Many are urging women to always safeguard their money, no matter how much they love a man.
