Simon Ekpa shunned and blamed for killings in Southeast Finland by Igbos

Igbos who reside in Finland have disavowed Nnamdi Kanu, the self-described disciple of IPOB, the banned organization.

The change came as a result of frequent killings in the area caused by Simon Ekpa’s forced sit-at-home protest against the Federal Government.

Recently, Ekpa, a Nigerian living in Finland, made headlines for ordering a five-day sit-at-home in the entire region, which resulted in the murder of innocent people and the destruction of both public and private property.

Ekpa was recently called in and questioned about the security situation in Southeast, according to a statement made by Kingsley Orji on behalf of the Igbo community in Finland.

They held him responsible for the ongoing security crisis in the area that has existed ever since the Department of State Security Services detained the IPOB leader again in 2021.

Part of the declaration reads, “While we respect and recognise the right of individuals to express their thoughts, the Igbo Community in Finland strongly denounces Mr. Simon Ekpa’s seditious statements and actions, which have taken on a dangerously violent dimension of killing and devastation whenever he issues such directives.

“Due to his threats and the violent actions of his group in Southeast Nigeria, there is a high level of insecurity in Igboterritory, which makes it hard to travel and do business.

“Simon Ekpa is warned strongly not to use social media to spread threats of violence, which is making the Igbo people of Nigeria angry”.
