A viral video circulating online has caused uproar in Nigeria after showing a businessman allegedly printing LG logos on thousands of counterfeit television cartons.
In the footage, dozens of 45- and 55-inch TV cartons are seen, with a man manually stamping the LG brand. A voiceover in the video claimed:
“So, yesterday I was in Alaba… and I came across this guy printing LG logo on all these new TVs.”
The narrator further revealed that he counted over 3,000 cartons of fake televisions in the shop.
The video has sparked warnings for buyers at Alaba International Market, Lagos, urging them to be cautious and verify LG products before making purchases, as a large number of the TVs in circulation may be counterfeit.
Mixed Reactions from Nigerians
The clip has generated widespread discussion, with many Nigerians expressing concern over counterfeit products.
HAK commented: “Nigeria and India almost have the same mentality when it comes to scamming. Some don’t have any appreciation for honest living.”
OG Swankie said: “Bro, this happens in my hood wella. But who am I to question their audacity? They stay affluent doing it.”
Yasir offered a cautionary perspective: “Are you sure they’re not repacking the product? Maybe the packs got damaged? To avoid being exploited, buy only from registered distributors like Fouani and others.”
Naija Son shared a personal experience, writing: “Is this not the LG Android TV I bought last year? I knew something was off with that TV.”
Godfather expressed alarm at the growing trend of counterfeiting: “These people will be the end of Nigeria if nothing is done to stop them. From fake medicine to fake drinks, fake car parts, and now fake TVs. What else won’t they adulterate and counterfeit at this rate?”
