Rio Ferdinand reveals Ten Hag’s mistakes during Arsenal’s 3-2 defeat

Rio Ferdinand, an ex-Manchester United defender, believes manager Erik ten Hag erred by not bringing Alejandro Garnacho off the bench in their 3-2 loss to Arsenal on Sunday.

United took the lead through Marcus Rashford, but the visitors were pegged back by goals from Eddie Nketiah and Bukayo Saka.

Lisandro Martinez equalized for the Red Devils, but Nketiah scored a deserving 90th-minute winner.

Ferdinand said on his FIVE YouTube show on Sunday: “I thought maybe they should have brought on someone like Garnacho with 15 or 20 minutes to go just to give Arsenal something to think about.

“They were all over us, because they knew there was nothing threatening behind late on.

“I thought the Fred substitution was obvious, but I also thought a double substitution then with maybe someone like Garnacho to give us a threat.”

Despite having played one more game, United is now in fourth place, 11 points behind Arsenal.
