Rema reportedly paid $3m to perform at Indian billionaire Ambani’s son’s wedding

Rema, a well-known Afrobeat singer from Nigeria, traveled to India to perform at the marriage of Anant Ambani, the son of Mukesh Ambani, the richest man in Asia, and Radhika Merchant, the daughter of pharmaceutical tycoons Viren and Shaila Merchant.

On Thursday night, Rema announced his arrival on Instagram with a video of himself approaching a private chartered plane while wearing an all-black outfit.

The video was set to ‘Azaman’ from his recently released sophomore album, ‘HEIS,’ and included an emoji of the Indian tricolour.

Rema is expected to get $3 million for performing his worldwide hit song “Calm Down” at the event, according to the Hindustan Times.

The wedding has attracted other high-profile performers as well. The performance by Canadian singer Justin Bieber reportedly brought in $10 million, while pop artist Rihanna performed for an undisclosed sum.

The extravagant nuptials will happen on July 12 at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai’s Jio World Centre.
