Real Madrid’s Bellingham is out for a month due to a calf injury.

Spanish reports state that Jude Bellingham, a midfielder for Real Madrid, will be sidelined for approximately a month after sustaining a calf injury during Friday’s practice.

“After conducting examinations on Jude Bellingham today, Real Madrid’s medical staff has determined that the player has a plantaris muscle injury in his right leg,” the club said in a statement, failing to provide an estimated duration of absence.

In September, Bellingham will be absent from England’s Nations League matches against Finland and the Republic of Ireland, as well as La Liga matches against Real Valladolid, Las Palmas, and Real Betis.

“(Bellingham) took a knock, we’re evaluating it,” Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti told a press conference earlier Friday.

The midfielder was key for Madrid last season as they won a Champions League and La Liga double.

After playing in a more advanced role the previous season, Bellingham moved into a central midfield role in Madrid’s first two games this season to make room for Kylian Mbappe, the striker.

The 21-year-old Bellingham plans to make a comeback for Madrid’s opening Champions League game of the season, which is scheduled for September 17–19.
