Police arrest American singer Sean Kingston and his mom for allegedly defrauding multiple businesses

Jamaican-American singer Sean Kingston and his 61-year-old mother, Janice Turner, have been arrested following a raid at his rented Florida mansion on Thursday, May 23.

Sean Kingston and his mother worked together to systematically defraud businesses and are now each facing multiple counts of grand theft and fraud, according to Broward Sheriffs Office warrants released Friday, May 24.

While Turner was arrested during the raid in Florida, her son was taken into custody in Fort Irwin, southern California, on fraud and theft charges on a Florida warrant.

During the raid, authorities reportedly filled U-Haul trucks with items and towing away at least one of the cars parked in the driveway.

Between October of 2023 and March of this year, Kingston, his mother “and others known and unknown” illegally obtained items from businesses including Mazal Jewelry Inc., Maree Inc., Ocean Auto Club, and Expimled FL worth over $100,000 under false pretenses, according to the warrants.

Items included furniture worth over $80,000, a Cadillac Escalade, and over $400,000 worth of jewelry.

Earlier this month, Turner was sued in a civil lawsuit by Curran Living Trust for $100,000 in unpaid rent, according to Broward Country Court documents obtained by USA Today.

Kingston is also facing legal trouble after being sued for breach of contract and fraud by Ver Ver Entertainment in February for allegedly failing to pay for a 232-inch TV and premium sound system, court documents show.

The company alleged the singer flaunted his celebrity status, particularly a connection to Justin Bieber, to negotiate the price. They are asking for $30,000 and attorney fees in a trial by jury.
