Phyna Otabor, the winner of Big Brother Naija Season 7, has caused controversy by announcing that she is giving up her last name, citing various reasons.
After winning the Big Brother Naija reality show, Phyna was accused of abandonment by her family, which sparked a social media controversy in 2022.
Phyna recently revealed the reasons behind her decision to drop her last name in a tweet on X (formerly Twitter).
The Edo state-born reality TV star made the startling admission that it has been established that she has no family or acquaintances who are aware of her origins.
Phyna disclosed that she has been going through a difficult period lately, relating how she was mistreated by dependable family members that she was unaware of because of her naivete as a child.
Her tweet reads, “I am publicly dropping my family surname OTABOR. It has been difficult for me lately because it has been established that I do not, in fact, have any family and no one knows how I got here. I’m in a place where I can’t even describe how I feel”.
“I should have suspected it, but I suppose I was too young and the way I was tossed around relatives.”
