Photographer laments as police arrest him for taking photos, demand ₦100k bail
A photographer from Nigeria has bemoaned his police arrest for allegedly taking pictures.The officers allegedly had a POS agent on standby and instructed him to pay ₦100,000 for bail.He posted a number of updates about the incident on his page on the well-known social media site X (formerly Twitter).According to his account, he was arrested by the police while he was taking street photos.He disclosed that they had imprisoned him in a cell and demanded ₦100,000 to free him. “They want ₦100k,” he wrote.
Before being released, he ultimately paid ₦30,000, he revealed in an update. “I paid ₦30k for my freedom. I’m out now! But this is ridiculous,” he added.
At the station, the photographer also disclosed that he had met a number of people who had also been arrested for taking pictures.
“While I was in there, I met these guys who had been arrested for simply taking pictures with their phones. As it turns out, the station has a zero-tolerance policy on cameras,” he wrote.
