People swarm the streets of Ilorin as soldiers and police officers engage in combat

Following a video that went viral online of a violent altercation between soldiers and police officers, residents of Ilorin poured into the streets.

The video, which was posted by @General_Somto and shared by a user on X (formerly Twitter), depicts soldiers holding guns and sticks threatening people as they patrol the road, apparently anticipating a run-in with the law.

The video did not specify what caused the conflict.

The video’s caption says, “Challenge Ilorin, Kwara State on fire, police and soldiers dey fight.” One of the soldiers is seen interacting with a few police officers in another video clip that is attached to the post.

Many residents could be seen yelling and observing the altercation as it happened. The video immediately became popular, and many people left comments and shared their thoughts on the matter.
