A young Nigerian woman who disclosed that a man she met just two days ago paid her rent in full has caused a stir on social media.
User @jessicdutchess_ took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her surprise at the unexpected kindness. The man, she claims, offered to pay her rent after a lengthy and in-depth discussion in which the subject naturally arose.
“This man paid my rent after two days of knowing him. We spent almost 20 hours together speaking about things. I don’t even know how we spoke about my rent, but he just asked how much do I pay and I told him. When he dropped me off, he gave me a stack,” she wrote.
The post quickly went viral, triggering a flurry of reactions from users who either questioned the nature of the relationship or criticised the situation as transactional.
@CHace_gemini commented sarcastically, “He was like: Oh, so have you paid your rent for the month/year? Don’t worry I’ll sort that out. Oye Olorun.”
