According to reports, veteran Nigerian singer Onyeka Onwenu collapses and dies following a performance at a Lagos event.
The tragic event is said to have happened at Reddington Hospital in Lagos on Tuesday, July 30.
She had been performing on stage at a birthday celebration, but as soon as she got back to her seat, she passed out.
She was declared dead at the hospital despite being rushed there; the cause of death is unknown.
Not to be overlooked is Onwenu’s incredible forty-year career, during which she achieved success as an actress, singer, songwriter, journalist, and politician.
She made her mark in the music industry with hits like “One Love,” “Iyogogo,” and “Ekwe” from her debut album, which was released in 1984.
